Viral Mac and Cheese Lasagna

Ingredients

For the Meat Layer

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup marinara or spaghetti sauce

For the Mac & Cheese

  • 16 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup Colby Jack cheese shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Assembly

  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Make the Meat Sauce

  • Brown the ground beef and onions. Drain excess grease.
  • Add garlic and seasonings. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.

Make the Mac & Cheese

  • Cook macaroni until al dente and drain.
  • Melt butter in a large pot. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Slowly add milk and whisk until thickened.
  • Stir in cheeses until smooth. Mix in the cooked macaroni.

Layer It Up

  • In a greased 9x13 baking dish
  • Layer 1: Half of the mac & cheese
  • Layer 2: Half of the meat sauce
  • Layer 3: Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar
  • Repeat layers & then top with remaining cheeses and Parmesan

Bake

  • Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes until bubbly. Then broil for 2–3 minutes for a golden cheesy crust.
